Windows of the National Presbyterian Church

Then God said, "Let there be light"; and there was light.
    - Genesis 1:3

More than 60,000 pieces of colored, faceted glass are anchored in 1,000 gallons of epoxy to form the windows of the National Presbyterian Church. The combined area of these 53 windows, approximately 2,810 square feet, is enough to fill the public spaces of the church with streaming light of many colors.

The windows were built in 1968 and 1969. Crosby Willet, President of the world renowned Willet Studios in Philadelphia executed the designs created by his father, Henry Lee Willet, to produce the sanctuary windows, the chapel windows, and a few of the other windows.

Because the glass of the church windows is mounted in epoxy instead of lead, The Willet windows are termed "faceted windows" instead of "stained glass windows".

Willet's work also graces the National Cathedral and the Chapel at Arlington National Cemetery.

There are stained glass windows in the narthex, in Jones Hall of the National Presbyterian School and Room 5 of the church.
