NPC's Strategic Planning Committee delivered its final plan to the Session in December 2006. Church committees and staff are at work to implement the plan. The complete text of the finished plan is available here.
The Plan retains the NPC statement of purpose: "Called to a ministry of grace, passionate about Christ’s mission in the world." It proposes a new statement identifying our vision of what NPC will become: "A vibrant church community that builds followers of Jesus Christ and disciples others locally and globally."
The Strategic Plan gives four strategic themes for our next ten years:
Cultivate and grow committed disciples of Jesus Christ
Prepare healthy leaders in Christ
Engage younger generations
Build a healing and reconciling church
The themes were derived after the Committee assessed the current strengths of NPC and identified strategic challenges for the long-term future of the church. Thus, these themes build on NPC’s rich history while addressing challenges, including whether younger generations will populate the pews of protestant mainline churches as their parents and grandparents have.
