O God, from my youth you have taught me, and I still proclaim your wondrous deeds.
So even to old age and gray hairs, O God, do not forsake me,
until I proclaim your might to all the generations to come.
- Psalms 71:17-18
Please see our online calendar, below.
A calendar of activities sponsored by the Older Adults' Ministries can be found at the Information Desk in the narthex of the church.
Older Adults Council
Formed in 2002, the Older Adult Council is composed of representatives of the various older adult ministries, as well as representatives from organizations outside NPC that are directly involved in ministering to older adults.
NPC Ministries
Sunday Evening Club
Founded in 1947 as an inter-denominational group for single adults, SEC meets on the
first Sunday of each month at 6 pm in Room 110 for fellowship,
a program and refreshments. In addition, the group sponsors Christian service
activities, such as meeting with residents of St. Elizabeth's Hospital, a St. E's
Christmas party, running bridge night at Ingleside, and helping with NPC Fall Fair.
SEC also sponsors a spring retreat open to all older adults.
SKIFF (Shipmates Knit in Firm Friendship)
Begun in 1949, this group is open to all, meeting on the first Monday of each month
at noon in Stone Hall for lunch and a program.
Although its emphasis is on fellowship, Skiff’s supports the Lord’s missions and
missionaries worldwide. It is also committed to supplying
Bibles for the third grade Sunday school class every year.
Dues are $5 per year.
Prime Time
This group was formed in 2004 to provide special opportunities for church members 55 and older.
They meet once a month on Thursday mornings for either a program at the church (a speaker,
drawing class, bridge, driver safety education class, hymn sing-along, etc.) or for an outing
(the National Cathedral Tour and Tea, the American Indian Museum, the Air and Space Museum
at Dulles Airport, an art gallery, etc.)
Fifty-year Member Coordinating Committee
This group plans a recognition Sunday in either May or June for those individuals who
have been members of NPC for 50 years and more. Four persons were so recognized in 2006.
